Extending Your Stay

When it comes to international travel, it’s always best to plan your entire itinerary ahead of time, at least in terms of length of stay and countries to visit. We have had some students who, once in Japan, have decided to attend another term or travel within Japan beyond the 90-day allowance. They have renewed their visa exemption by briefly visiting another country and then returning.

Whenever you re-enter Japan, you will be stopped and asked questions. There is always the potential that, on returning from another country, you could be denied entry into Japan. To avoid this disaster, if you think there’s a high chance that you might study for two or more terms at KCP, we strongly suggest you apply for a long-term visa well in advance by a certain deadline rather than leave your re-entry to chance.
